Mobility scooters are useful for moving independently as well as being an alternative to power wheelchairs. However, like all other equipment, there are some mobility scooters that are specifically designed for bariatric patients with bigger wheels and power. In today’s guide we’ll showcase some of those bariatric scooters in our range.
Aurora Hill Climber
Featuring loop handle bars and large 12” pneumatic wheels that provide greater ground clearance of 13cm the Aurora Hill Climber can take up to 182kg of weight. Additionally the bariatric mobility scooter has a large 4-pole motor and large controller that allows it to deliver much more power while climbing steep driveways or hills up to 12 degrees with a max speed of 10km/h and a range of between 40 – 50km.
The Aurora also has an adjustable suspension system to allow the user to be more comfortable and to have more control. For additional security the scooter has a separate emergency braking system along with a built-in half speed safety switch which turns on automatically when turning to provide extra safety.
Shoprider 778HD
Designed to carry bariatric users the Shoprider 778HD has a number of features including 2Hp motors, 330mm flat free tyres, adjustable steering Delta tillers and on-board chargers. Able to climb up to 9 degrees the 778HD can carry up to 182kg with a maximum driving range of up to 30km. The bariatric scooter’s wheel size of 260/330mm allows it to turn with a radius of 1290mm making it highly manoeuvrable.
Comet Alpine+
Challenge the outdoor with the Comet Alpine+ as its robust and powerful driving characteristics gives users the freedom to discover the outdoor with minimal effort in comfort and safety. Able to take on up to 160kg the Comet Alpine+ offers excellent manoeuvrability and power without compromising safety and style t hanks to its powerful 650/1800W motors and superior suspension system.
The Comet Alpine+ can reach up to 10km in speed with a maximum driving range of up to 58km. Furthermore the scooter is available in 3 models: Comfort, Deluxe and Premium with different seat depth and backrest height for each model.
Its in-built anti splash guards protects vital components from water and dirt while the bariatric scooter’s directional stability keeps you moving in a straight line alongside the automatic speed reduction that slows the scooter down when driving around corners.
Pride Pathrider 140XL
Loaded with high performance features the Pathrider 140XL features full 4 wheel suspension system and a hydraulic sealed brake system. A powerful blend of power and precision the bariatric scooter has large 33cm pneumatic wheels for excellent outdoor performance along with easy drive tiller with wraparound handles.
With a maximum weight capacity of 181kg the bariatric mobility scooter can drive up to 34.66km with a turning radius of 210.8cm. It’s equipped with a sleek aggressive style and a wealth of standard luxury touches including LED lighting and optional features such as rear basket.
Pride Celebrity XL
Combining aggressive outdoor design with luxury features the Celebrity XL features independent console angle adjustment, deluxe high-back reclining captain’s seat and one-handed tiller angle adjustment.
The bariatric scooter can take up to 159kg in weight and its 1016 x 3302mm pneumatic wheels have a turning radius of 168.27cm. Able to travel up to 40.23km the scooter has a microprocessor-based controller for optimal power management with an ultra-simple, auto latching lockup for quick disassembly and assembly.
